President praises supply chain at AIS awards

More than 450 industry leaders were present at the Dorchester Hotel in London last month to help celebrate the 2014 AIS Contractors Awards and, in her first speech as the new AIS FPDC president, Angela Mansell praised the efforts of the supply chain for seeing many businesses through the recession.

Angela Mansell told guests that AIS FPDC will be about setting and maintaining industry standards to ensure that everyone operates on a level playing field and customers get what they buy.

Angela Mansell said: “In an age where we can model buildings on computers, communicate via a smartphone, manufacture buildings off site, why can’t we get paid on time? Until we have fair contracts and fair payment we will never deliver the buildings our clients want and deserve.”

She then went on to praise the supply chain for protecting the industry during the recession: “It was our suppliers who effectively bankrolled much of the industry. Without their support in the difficult times, many of us would not be here today.”
