Moveable partition specialists Style was contracted to install two DORMA Varitrans glass moveable walls to the community training area of the newly constructed Lymm Fire Station. Etched in a funky design, one glass wall has the appearance of a curved screen when closed, creating an airy Life Skills Centre. The other Varitrans divides an open area, used for large gatherings, into two separate rooms for training, presentations and meetings.

Lymm Fire Station is a new, full-time fire station that is significantly improving response times across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. As well as having complete fire fighter training facilities, the station also incorporates the Cheshire Interactive Life Skills Centre known as ‘Safety Central’ – where people can be educated about the hazards they are most likely to encounter in and around their homes and communities.

Working with architects TACP of Wrexham and main contractor ISG, Style was asked to add functional adaptability to the space, ensuring it is utilised to the maximum at all times.  DORMA Varitrans is a single-glazed moveable wall with the option of either manual or fully automatic operation, and was the perfect solution for Lymm Fire Station’s requirements.

Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the North, said: “We were delighted to have been specified for this very high profile new build project.

“Varitrans is ideal for projects such as Lymm Fire Station as well as shop fronts, restaurants, church halls, airports, showrooms or offices, where space division is required without the need for acoustics.

“As the photos show, it can be fully customised with screen printing, sand etching and logo placement, and single and double pass doors can be incorporated allowing easy access when the wall is in position.”
