ISG has successfully delivered a £55 million project at the University of West England (UWE Bristol) – creating a striking new home for the Faculty of Business and Law. Staff and students working and studying at Bristol Business School (BBS) and Bristol Law School (BLS) have moved into the new facilities, which represent the centre-piece of the university’s £300 million capital investment programme.

The Bristol Business School Building is designed to foster formal and informal interaction between the university and wider business community, and the new facility promises to bring many benefits to the regional economy. The five-storey, 185,000 sq ft building includes large areas of collaborative space, where professional organisations, judges, accountants, small business owners and start-ups, will be able to mix with staff and students in specially designed social learning areas.

UWE Bristol is a leading advocate of advanced building methodologies to drive efficiencies during the construction process and beyond into occupancy. ISG delivered the project to Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 maturity, with all design information shared between project stakeholders to create a computer-based model of the building.

Rob Martin, ISG’s Western regional managing director, commented: “ The new Bristol Business School has already achieved landmark building status and exemplifies how UWE do things differently – with collaboration and inclusion two of the overriding design principles of the project.

“Feedback from staff and students using the new building has been excellent and this is a great showcase for ISG in our portfolio of progressive and innovative facilities for our forward thinking education client base.”
