Kingspan Insulation has released updated technical bulletins explaining how its products can help to achieve credits for responsible sourcing in the relevant sections of Code for Sustainable Homes (C4SH) 2010 and BREEAM 2011.

The updated technical bulletins which include information about all C4SH 2010 and BREEAM 2011 credits which can be directly or indirectly achieved with Kingspan Insulation products are available for download from Kingspan Insulation’s website:

All Kingspan Kooltherm, KoolDuct and Therma insulation products and cavity closers produced at its British manufacturing facilities are now certified ‘Very Good’ under BES 6001: Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products. As a result these products can contribute towards the award of the Responsible Sourcing credit in the Mat 4: Insulation sub-category of BREEAM 2011.

In addition, the thick facing of certain Kingspan Insulation products can also be assessed under the Mat 2: Responsible Sourcing of Materials – Basic Building Elements sub-category of C4SH 2010 and Mat 3: Responsible Sourcing of Materials sub-category of BREEAM 2011. The plasterboard used at Kingspan Insulation’s British manufacturing facility where Kingspan Kooltherm K17 Insulated Plasterboard and Kingspan Kooltherm K18 Insulated Plasterboard are produced, is certified to BES 6001 ‘Very Good’. Thus the plasterboard content of these products can be assessed under tier level 1 of Mat 2 (C4SH 2010) and tier level 3 of Mat 3 (BREEAM 2011).

Kingspan Insulation’s British manufacturing facility, at which Kingspan Thermawall TR31 is produced, also carries FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification and the product’s plywood facing is FSC certified at 70% as standard. The facing can therefore be certified in accordance with tier level 1 of Mat 2 (C4SH 2010) and tier level 3 of Mat 3 (BREEAM 2011).
