The new £20m Twickenham Academy and the £15m Hampton Academy have seen a tailored design of acoustic solutions that help to create effective communication in different spaces in the new building.

OWA supplied the coloured acoustic wall absorbers, baffles and ceilings. Horizontal bands of various colours of OWAcoustic Fabrico wall absorbers were selected in most teaching spaces, sometimes in concert with OWAcoustic Sinfonia acoustic baffles and ceilings. In corridor areas services were semi-concealed through the creative application of slim OWAcoustic Sinfonia baffle systems.

Acrchitect Steve Westcott of AStudio said: ““OWA ceiling systems were selected for the excellent sound absorption qualities, taking the ‘echo’ away from interior spaces to aid privacy, good speech intelligibility and user comfort, whilst also enabling good sound insulation and fire resistance properties.”

Installation contractor was Intastruct and the main contractor was Leadbitter.
