A palette of different materials provided by Sto has helped transform a successful architectural design competition entry into an award-winning community healthcare centre in Northern Ireland.

StoTherm Classic external wall insulation (EWI) system, StoRend Cote render and StoLotusan render finish were used for the Banbridge Health and Care Centre in County Down. The completed building has since won awards from both the healthcare and architectural communities.

The entirely cement-free StoTherm Classic EWI system was used for high levels of thermal insulation. Compared with a cementitious system, it provides up to 10 times greater impact resistance, helping the building to retain its attractive appearance.

In wall areas not requiring additional insulation, StoRend Cote was used – a weatherproof and low-maintenance render system designed for substrates with minimum mechanical movement. A crisp finish was achieved with StoLotusan, providing a patented Lotus-Effect for unbeatable water and dirt repellence combined with protection against algae growth.
