An overview of the product
The Top Track Edge Fix gives the ability to have a fixing point anywhere along the ceiling line in lieu of the standard 400mm joist. Between the joists the week point for fire is in-between the joists, the Top Track Edge Fix eliminates this and potentially increases the time for fire and smoke to go through the weak points. This design can be used on housing and residential projects. The design can also potentially assist with air leakage.

How the new product was developed, including effective collaboration, knowledge transfer and partnership along the project team
This product was thought of out of sheer frustration. Where areas have no fixing points our labour would have to stop work, find the site team who would have in turn have to find the Carpenter who would then come along and apply fixing points. This developed into a ‘lightbulb’ moment and then the head track was developed. This then reducing the down time to report missing fixing points and therefore increase output.

How might this product have an influence on the specification
Potentially this product has the ability to increase the time it takes for fire and smoke to penetrate weak points. It can also potentially assist in air leakage.

How the product improved productivity in the process and/or quality and performance of the interior system
This product improved productivity by not having to use valuable time to find others to apply fixing points. This is all covered by the top track. Performance is enhanced by means of fixings points at whatever the installer wishes to do in lieu of the standard maximum 400cc
