QuickFix Profiles
Innovation overview and development
An overview of the sustainable innovation
QuickFix Profiles provide an innovative service to compliment the speed and accuracy of the onsite build process for 1st fix drylining companies by building our products offsite and sending them to site “premade” and in modular format.
QuickFix Profiles was incorporated in 2019 to meet the increasing Health and Safety demands upon the drylining industry to challenge the dust and waste removal from site environments. However, whilst being tried and tested it has also been found to offer our clients considerable direct and indirect commercial advantage as well as considerable time related benefits. Our mission is to provide high quality products to our clients, whilst enabling them to achieve a better finished product in less time and at less risk to their team members health.
Our vision is that by using QuickFix Profiles our clients will help reduce waste within the construction industry and achieve a more circular economy whilst bettering the construction work environment for all.
How the innovation was developed, including effective collaboration, knowledge transfer and partnership along the project team
The construction industry has often been slow to change and highly conservative but the need for sustainability and improvements to onsite health and safety of all workers, coupled with faster installation and project delivery times has seen a breakthrough in the recognition and understanding by main contractors, sub-contractors and building materials distributors alike in 2022.
QuickFix Profiles has invested significantly in machinery, increased capacity and undertaken extensive promotion of the benefits of offsite preparation and onsite efficiencies. Our mission is to provide high quality products to our clients, whilst enabling them to achieve a better finished product, in less time and at less risk to their teams members’ health. In the last 12 months, after 2 years of building a base from scratch, the concept has finally been accepted at large.
The use of new technologies, processes products or techniques or novel uses of existing ones
The drylining sector has been relatively unchanged for many years, if not decades, but QuickFix Profiles has introduced and delivered a service that enables sustainable, recued carbon footprint, and improved speed of installation by interiors by virtue of offsite cutting, manufacturing and preparation of plasterboards and drywall accessories. Thus taking the HSE risks offsite into a controlled environment with correct ventilation and dust extraction, aided by efficient state of the art cutting machinery.
Drylining business owners can now eliminate cutting stations onsite, save skip usage expenditure by virtue of no material wastage onsite and reduce deliveries to site dramatically. The elimination of respirators and airborne dust makes the site environment more environmentally friendly for the main contractor and all other subcontractors working on the same project. The process was often misunderstood, or not fully appreciated, but the last year has seen a transformative realisation of the efficiencies gained, space saved, cost reductions obtained as well as a significant reduction in delivery activity lowering the emissions related to the site.
How does the innovation provide a more environmentally friendly approach for the industry
Our processes are based around the circular economy model prinicples of reuse, refit, repair, refurbish, reclaim, retain, which keeps materials at their highest value for as long as possible and decouples growth from resource use. This not only reduces carbon emmisions but also limits waste management costs.
We have enabled main contractors and developers to coordinate their purchasing frameworks and deliver measurable sustainable improvements to their supply chain and add health & safety, installation speed and accuracy improvements to their projects.
Their sites are now cleaner, safer, receive less deliveries than previously on projects that are now able to be completed faster and with greater accuracy.
How does the innovation provide an improvement in social value
QuickFix Profiles has experienced rapid growth over the last year, we are taking on and training new staff at our London operations creating new jobs for local people. We are also expanding our operations in 2023 with a new facility in the North where we will be training new staff and creating jobs.
QuickFix Profiles has partnered with Ecologi planting tress and offsetting emissions for every order placed.
How does this innovation influence future specifications to improve sustainability
Drylining made simpler, faster, cleaner and more sustainable by eliminating onsite material cutting, airborne plasterboard and plywood dust transmission and delivering sustainability to a sector that needs a stimulus to meet the wishes of its main contractors and supply chain partners. Change has been instigated by a clear transmission of the practical benefits gained by all parties in a circular economy model where everyone has benefited.
