Selco Builders Warehouse have partnered with Gloucestershire College for a week-long programme designed to give students greater exposure to the trade industry and career opportunities in the sector.

Taking place this week, from Monday 2 November, Trade Week is giving students the chance to get hands-on with products and meet businesses working across the Trade.

From professional fixings and power tools to roofing and flooring systems, adhesives and construction solutions, trade brands are showing students what it takes to work in the industry. The week-long initiative will help them build practical skills and confidence to take the first steps into a trade career, rather than just learning the basics of DIY.

The brands involved are SPAX, Fakro, Milwaukee, Degafloor and Cure It, who are each bringing their own expertise to the programme. Selco has launched the initiative to strengthen the links between education and industry to help students understand the opportunities available within the construction and trade sectors.

Taking place at Gloucestershire College, the schedule features a range of sessions throughout the week, offering practical insights and expert guidance across a broad range of topics. Students can attend the following sessions for free:

  • Monday 2 November: SPAX and Fakro
  • Tuesday 3 November: Milwaukee
  • Thursday 5 November: Degafloor
  • Friday 6 November: Cure It

David Dello, Shopfloor Manager at Selco Builders Warehouse Cheltenham, said: “Supporting the next generation of tradespeople is hugely important to us, and Trade Week is providing a fantastic opportunity to connect students with the wider industry.

“By bringing young people closer to the businesses, people and career opportunities within the sector, we hope to inspire them and give a better understanding of the pathways available as they prepare to enter the workforce.

“It’s fantastic to see what can be achieved through collaboration, and we’re excited to continue working together to support the next generation of skilled tradespeople.”

The programme reflects Selco’s ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of tradespeople, working in partnership with education providers to give students valuable connections and insight into the wider trade industry.
