British Gypsum has rolled out its innovative wall solution, Gyproc Habito, to the retail sector, to help create durable and robust commercial spaces, while improving design flexibility.

With a reinforced core, Gyproc Habito is five times stronger than standard plasterboard, making it ideal for high traffic retail spaces.

It is installed like standard plasterboard, but reduces the need for pre-planned, pre-installed pattressing, meaning interiors can be redesigned time and time again, perfect for showcasing seasonal promotions.

Gyproc Habito can support 15kg of weight with a single no. 10 wood screw. This can transform an entire wall into a working element of the retail environment and provides the freedom and flexibility to update spaces, as fixtures and fittings can be easily moved or installed.

The robustness of the plasterboard reduces the on-going maintenance of retail stores, protecting against knocks and damage that comes with a public space. Using this solution, walls look smarter for longer, a plus for image conscious retailers.

For commercial installers, Gyproc Habito helps to make the fitting process more efficient. Reducing complexity of the build and installation times, as well as decreasing material footprint and costs are all benefits that help the complete the project on time and to the customer’s satisfaction.

Paul Campbell, Head of Product Marketing at British Gypsum, said: “Retail is a sector that’s constantly evolving to meet customer needs and requirements, so flexibility is crucial on any project.  There is a lot of time pressure during construction to get a store open as quickly as possible.  Due to a reduced need for patressing, Gyproc Habito speeds up the installation process in addition to providing the freedom to fix heavy items anywhere.”

“Stores are notoriously high traffic areas, so durability is another key requirement. The robust qualities of Gyproc Habito meets these needs, along with a long list of technical performance characteristics.”
