Leading global acoustic ceilings manufacturer OWA UK has published independently verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its range of OWAtecta metal panels and exposed suspended ceiling grids and wall trims. Available via OWA’s website and NBS Source, the new documentation gives contractors, architects and specifiers clear and reliable sustainability data for one of the most comprehensive metal ceiling portfolios available to the UK market.
The new EPDs cover the full selection of OWA’s lay‑in, clip‑in and hook‑on metal ceiling panels, exposed grid and tile systems, as well as metal baffles, acoustic canopies, ceiling rafts, metal wall panels and bespoke bulkhead and staircase panels. Designed for long‑lasting performance with minimal maintenance, the range combines robust metal construction with a high‑quality powder‑coated finish and offers multiple perforation patterns to meet specific acoustic requirements across commercial offices, education, healthcare and public‑sector projects.
Each EPD details environmental impact information such as global warming potential (GWP), energy consumption and water usage, providing a clear assessment of the carbon footprint associated with each product. This helps contractors and specifiers make informed decisions when working to meet stricter building regulations, client sustainability targets and wider frameworks such as BREEAM, where independently verified life cycle data is increasingly required at tender and installation stages.
Developed in line with EN 15804 and independently verified to ISO 14025:2011, the new suite of EPDs for its OWAtecta metal ceilings sit alongside the manufacturer’s existing EPDs for its extensive collection of mineral ceiling tiles. As well as offering low VOC emissions thanks to the use of a natural, formaldehyde-free starch binder, OWA’s mineral ceiling tiles and grids also provide the market with a suitable and readily available alternative for projects where Zentia products had been previously specified but are no longer available.
Commenting, OWA UK’s managing director, Andrew Smith, said: “Publishing Environmental Product Declarations for our OWAtecta metal ceiling tiles and exposed grids is another important step in OWA’s ongoing sustainability journey. Contractors and specifiers alike are increasingly required to demonstrate the environmental impact of the materials they select, and we’re committed to making this information readily accessible. These new EPDs sit alongside our mineral tile declarations and reflect our continued focus on delivering high‑performance ceiling systems with independently assessed environmental credentials.”
