Portview shared they had delivered the new Double Helix Staircase at Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly.

A spokesperson said: “Beautifully integrated into the fabric of the building, this striking new addition feels as though it has always belonged within the store’s historic walls. Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s vision, of which only a handful exist globally, the staircase is a modern masterpiece of craftsmanship and design. Two intertwining staircases wrap around the central atrium like twisting strands of DNA, appearing as one elegant structure that allows visitors to ascend and descend simultaneously without crossing paths. Rising from the Lower Ground to the Second Floor, the staircase features 660 polished brass rosettes, 340 metres of handrail, 330 bespoke balustrades, and 132 steps. Each panel contains eight hand-forged scrolls, totalling 2,640.”
They explained that sustainability was central to the project, with original materials salvaged and refinished, and parts of the former staircase creatively repurposed.

They concluded by saying: “The project was delivered on time for the festive season, the result is a sculptural centrepiece that celebrates heritage, craftsmanship and innovation at the heart of one of London’s most iconic stores.”
