Innovation overview and development

An overview of the product
Quicktrak encompasses a laser line marker and series of dimples added to traditional drylining track. The results allow for extremely fast and accurate installation of drywall construction and is the first major innovation to drywall construction in 50 years.

Quickclik encompasses a laser line marker, a series of pairs of dimples and a 150mm back stop added to traditional MF7 channel. The results allow for complete accuracy of the installation traditional MF ceiling systems. The pairs of dimples allow for the extremely fast and accurate installation of the MF5 channels. The 150mm backstop ensures that the MF7 channels are correctly joint each time and in line with the manufacturers specification.

How the new product was developed, including effective collaboration, knowledge transfer and partnership along the project team
The product was developed by two members of the team whom have been actively installing drylining walls and MF ceilings for over 30 years. One of the partners identified a need for a simpler, quicker and more accurate way to instal MF ceilings, as the current system is far too labour intensive and prone to inaccuracy and resulted in the Quickclik system.

The other partner whilst involved in the MF ceiling system had the same thought process for the construction of dry wall systems and set about developing Quicktrak.

Many hours were spent in research and development of both systems with site trial conducted at various locations. The next phase involved consultations with two manufacturers, Superior Sections and Metsec plc, to ascertain if the concepts could be manufactured both accurately and cost effectively. New tooling was developed once the manufacturing process was accessed and following trial runs it was concluded that both sections could be produced with slowing the meters per minute current manufacture rate.

Whilst all the manufacturing testing was being undertaken, both concepts were progressing through the Patent process and are now both granted giving protection globally.

Both patents were given priority fast track patent consideration as there were both deemed to be GREEN inventions.

How might this product have an influence on the specification
As both concepts are unique in every right, once they are specified by an architect or engineer this is a secure specification and cannot be substituted for inferior products as there are no equal or approved products available on the market.

How the product improved productivity in the process and/or quality and performance of the interior system
Quicktrak when used will speed up installation by approximately 50%. Once a skilled operative has installed both the top and bottom track a labourer can simply click the studs into place via the pre determined fixing points with 100% accuracy and no need for tape measuring.

Quickclik when used will speed up the installation of an MF ceiling by approximately 80%. Once a skilled operative has installed the hangers, MF6 and Quickclik a labourer can simply click the MF5 channels to the Quickclik channel in a faction of the time it would take using standard MF7, with 100% accuracy in a fraction of the time and with no need for a tape measure.
