Towersure
Innovation overview and development
An overview of the digital innovation
PASMA have developed the Towersure app. ensuring consistent and thorough tower inspections with built-In, digital PASMA checklists.
The TowerSure app is linked to the web-based management console and enables safety managers to create, store, search and share tower inspection records electronically. Users can also see photos and details of all towers on sites and projects – without having to leave the office.
AT Jones have worked closely on the development of the app all the way through trial stage to main launch. AT Jones have given live end user feedback for the last 18 months ensuring the product is now fool proof for construction sites. Along with this ATJ have trained and introduced major contractors such as Kier and Multiplex in the use of the app. This has led to a nationwide rollout with Kier of which ATJ safety manager has assisted in the onboarding of there project teams and supply chain partners. Link below shows more on the product and a teams call presenting on it can be made to the panel.
How the digital innovation was developed, including effective collaboration, knowledge transfer and partnership along the project team
Sam Beesley (ATJ HSQE manager) has worked closely with PASMA development team over the last 18 months. We have had regular meetings providing feedback from site trial. ATJ were the first multi-site construction company to trial the product. The trial was extremely successful with ATJ that they have continued to build on the relationship with PASMA providing ongoing feedback on all updates, helping with each minor detail to ensure it is fool proof for use on site and that details included make life so much simpler for those completing on-site inspections. PASMA have a fantastic knowledge base on tower safety and management however for this product to work they lacked an area of knowledge in real site experience and expectation of a digital product. This is where we come in and specialise. We trialled the app with a wide range of tech experienced employees from those who can just about send an email to those who can do everything. This ensured that the product was user friendly for all and it is. The feedback from site teams was incredibly positive yet critical at the same time. The critical parts were key as this has enabled PASMA to develop an app that is suited to an end user construction company.
With this we have presented along-side PASMA at their webinar launch of the product along with a on stage presentation at their annual conference. With this we have developed a strong working relationship with PASMA who represent safety for one of dry linings biggest risks, work at height. Now the app is live we are continually providing feedback and trialling new items ahead of public release to ensure it is fit and suitable for the construction market.
Below is an email from PASMA managing director.
When we started looking for participants for the PASMA TowerSure pilot, AT Jones was recommended by Pete Harley at STS as a forwarding thinking company.
He’s right!
What has really impressed us, and one of the reasons you were asked to speak at our conference last week, is the way you and AT Jones have embraced this technology, provided valuable feedback and championed this with your clients.
It’s entirely thanks to AT Jones use, and your promotion of TowerSure, that we have now been able to agree a national pilot with Kier Construction across seven of their business units.
Kier’s senior leadership team understands AT Jones piloted/championed TowerSure,.
It’s a pleasure to work with you and AT Jones – your willingness to trial technology and share the findings is to be commended.

Details on the measurable commercial results
The commercial results in this are minor with physical, however huge in potential/actual cost savings. The extra management control with regards with regards towers being built correctly provides an extra security blanket enabling HSQE team to monitor from office ensuring all are built correctly. Along with this it makes the sign off process more efficient meaning that managers have more time to focus on other tasks, which also means that due to it being more efficient its being done properly more regularly. A photo on it as well means people are not wanting to sign towers built off wrong. It has also seen an increased reputation with contractors as Kiers safety director invited us to present the product to there safety team and supply chain as he didnt want our input to be lost a long the way.
How does this innovation improve processes
This massively improves the tower management process.
– it allows secondary background checks to take place from safety maangers without visiting the job
– it has photos so you can see exactly whats signed off and how it looked at time of sign off vs how it looks at time of QR scan
– it means as soon as its scanned and sign off process complete thats it, no going back to the office to fill out a form
How might this innovation influence the specification
This will provide confidence in towers being a safe product going forward. The market is currently leaning towards PAVS/PECOs s these cant be tampered with. However present there-own risk. This will also reduce the risk of towers being built wrong in the sector as they have a step by step sign off guide each time. Off this if built incorrectly it has the capacity for a companys safety manager to deliver microlearning from trends spotted within there organisation. In summary this should improve tower safety standards and efficiency in sign off process.
Creation of novel internal systems to produce eco-innovation
The app development has meant that paper inspections are no longer required for weekly returns to main contractors. Also the use of the QR code means that a tag can be reassigned to another tower instead of the tag not being able to be used due to requirement to store for 3 months after job completion. This means tags are instantly reusable as all records are stored digitally on the cloud.
