In a recent LinkedIn post, Jasper Steinhausen, Founder of Business with Impact, explained that every year, 400 million tennis balls get served, smashed… and dumped and only 1% get recycled — the rest go straight to landfill.
Jasper said: “Kind of crazy when you think about it, isn’t it?
“But SoundBounce had a better idea. They collect used tennis balls from clubs and turn them into soundproofing for furniture and buildings. They create chairs, walls, and even curvy surfaces that hush the noise and reduce your carbon footprint. One chair = 515 tennis balls = 15 kg of CO₂ saved.
“Now that’s what you call a clean return. It’s smart, circular, and pretty creative.
“Who knew the secret to peace and quiet was lying around in a tennis club bin?”
He concluded by saying: “Turns out, saving the planet doesn’t always mean reinventing the wheel. sometimes, it just means giving old balls a better bounce back. Just one more example of how business and sustainability go hand in hand.”
