Siniat UK & Ireland has announced that after nearly 37 years working for the Etex organisation, Nigel Morrey has announced that he will be retiring in December 2025.

Starting in February 1989, Nigel worked for companies including Pyrok Limited & Cape Calsil Systems Limited, initially on the quality and operational side of the business, before moving fully into technical management in 1992. In September 2002, he joined Promat UK & Ireland by Etex as Technical Director and over the following 14 years, worked as part of the Senior Leadership Team, held many roles including being technical lead for marine, oil and gas and the tunnels divisions of Promat International alongside the UK role. He formed part of the acquisition and integration teams for Cafco International, C3S and PMR which are now fully integrated into the Promat Industry business as well as being the lead for EHS management for the Promat businesses in the UK. During this period there was significant change in the industrial landscape and Nigel led on a number of key manufacturing relocation initiatives including relocation of Durasteel to Blackburn & Meldreth and then to China. He also oversaw the move of Supalux and Masterboard to Belgium and Vermiculux to Belgium.

Following the changes in the Promat UK business in 2016 and the move of Promat Technical Construction into the Siniat UK & Ireland by Etex drywall business, Nigel became Technical Director of the newly formed Etex Building Performance (EBP) business. Over the following years, Nigel has led all EBP’s technical functions as well as being the lead for non-operational EHS management.

Supporting EBP’s technical position in the market, Nigel has represented Etex in numerous trade associations & technical forums including the Finishes and Interiors Sector at technical committee, Chair and Board level, and the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) to both protect and promote the position for passive fire protection and drywall systems. In 2024 The ASFP made Nigel the recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award & in 2025 he was made a Lifetime Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers.

Etex is now commencing the recruitment for Nigel’s successor.
