SIG has announced that its own brand of ceiling grid, Sitefix Ocelot Powergrid X, in conjunction with Elevate’s range of Cosmic ceiling tile, can now offer an REI 60 fire rated under-mezzanine ceiling system, giving customers a reliable solution where fire resistance, structural performance and installation quality are essential.
The Elevate Cosmic mineral fibre ceiling tile and SIG’s Sitefix Ocelot Powergrid X have been independently tested together and achieved REI 60 classification for a 60-minute fire-rated under-mezzanine ceiling system – making this the UK’s first of its kind, tested in accordance with the latest European fire resistance standards (BS EN 13501-2:2023 and BS EN 1365-2:2014).
Mezzanines are now treated as structural floor elements, not just ceilings. Performance expectations have risen. It’s no longer just about fire protection – it’s about how a system behaves under real structural load.
This is a major milestone, giving specifiers, contractors and project teams a new level of confidence when fire performance matters.
