Global acoustic ceiling systems manufacturer OWA is reflecting on what has been an eventful 2024, with new product launches and project completions giving the company a head start for the year ahead.
Earlier this year, OWA launched its new S14 acoustic canopy, which has been designed to enhance any contemporary open-plan interior space while offering Class A sound absorption. The standard rectangular-shaped 2m by 1m canopies come in one piece to create stunning ‘floating’ ceiling designs. Each has an integrated acoustic pad and suspension rods that make them easy to install and relocate. The S14 acoustic canopy can also be made to order to meet bespoke design requirements, including a variety of different sizes, shapes, colours, perforations, and mesh patterns. This new addition to OWA’s metal ceiling range is helping the manufacturer offer its customers even greater design flexibility and follows the earlier successful launch of the industrial-style demountable S80 acoustic raft.
One of the first projects to benefit from the new S14 acoustic canopy was also completed this year. The new product was among the array of solutions OWA provided for use at the UK showroom of leading window, door, and façade systems supplier Schüco. The OWA team worked closely with Schüco to devise a ceiling design that not only looked the part but also significantly helped reduce echoes, boost speech intelligibility, and enhance the overall experience of those using the showroom.
As well as introducing new products, throughout 2024 OWA also strengthened its existing range of ceiling tiles and grid systems with the enhancement of its popular Brillianto A acoustic mineral tile. Now available as a lower cost 14mm thick smooth white fleece covered acoustic ceiling tile, the changes to Brillianto A reflect OWA’s focus on offering its customer greater value for money and shorter lead times.
Looking ahead to 2025, as interest in the new S14 acoustic canopy continues to grow, OWA is also keen to work with more contractors as part of its Take Back scheme to reduce waste on Cat A fit-outs where its standard S14 acoustic canopies may no longer be required. This allows the canopies to be reused on other projects to eliminate waste and gives customers the option of choosing a recycled and ‘nearly new’ S14 acoustic canopy to contribute to their own sustainability targets. This new initiative builds on OWA’s commitment to responsible manufacturing as well as looking at ways to recycle and reuse its metal ceiling products. Additionally, OWA limits the amount of harmful VOC content in its mineral tiles by championing the use of more sustainable, natural materials.
To continue to support its customers in the year ahead, OWA will be holding significant stock in the UK across its full range of metal and mineral ceiling solutions which feature products of varying density and thickness to meet different requirements and design briefs. These include solutions for acoustic performance, fire protection, hygiene and humidity resistance.
With so much going on, this year OWA has made it even easier for customers and contractors to stay up to date with the launch of its new dedicated UK website. Unveiled in the summer, the new website provides quick and easy access to OWA’s extensive range of suspended ceiling systems and includes a search function so customers can view products by various criteria such as material type, sound absorption class, and stock availability.
