In a recent announcement, Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland confirmed that Dean O Sullivan has been appointed as CEO.

A spokesperson stated that Dean will lead the business as it embarks on an ambitious strategic plan – Lead & Grow, which has been recently unveiled by the Saint-Gobain Group. He will continue to drive the company’s vision to be the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction.

The new Lead & Grow plan commits the Group to three key objectives:

  1. Becoming a Solutions Company – delivering building and infrastructure solutions that combine sustainability with performance.
  2. Becoming the go-to partner for customers.
  3. Outperforming the market.

Dean has an exceptional track record in Saint-Gobain, joining the Group in Gyproc Ireland in 2007, before leading the UK businesses of Okarno, Isover UK and British Gypsum. During his recent leadership of Isover UK & British Gypsum Dean led British Gypsum to become one of the first UK brands to have products carry the Code for Construction Product Information Mark, launched a partnership with The Pallet LOOP to introduce a circular economy for its pallets and launched the first plasterboard in Europe to be manufactured with 100% recycled gypsum.

Dean commented: “It’s a great privilege to lead Saint-Gobain’s businesses in the UK & Ireland at a time when we’re launching a new strategy that positions Saint-Gobain as a true solutions provider for our customers.

“Saint-Gobain is a truly unique company – with an unrivalled breadth of solutions for the entire building industry, deep expertise shaped by an incredible 360-year history, and strong values of care, respect, and doing the right thing.”

Dean succeeds long-standing CEO Mike Chaldecott, who recently announced his retirement. Mike will remain in the business for a transition period to support a smooth handover.

Mike has been a tremendous ambassador for Saint-Gobain – deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of our people, and to delivering the best outcomes for our customers. His remarkable 42-year career – from graduate at the Kirkby Thore plant in Cumbria to CEO – is an outstanding achievement. Everyone at Saint-Gobain extends their sincere thanks and best wishes to Mike for the future.
