After years of development, SpeedCutter enters the market as a cutting-edge passive fire stopping solution for service penetrations. Designed for fast, safe installations, it reduces human error and environmental impact, setting a new standard in fire stopping practices. Backed by comprehensive fire test evidence (BS EN 1366-3: 2021), SpeedCutter ensures reliable fire protection while streamlining project efficiency.
SpeedCutter provides a single integrated cutter and fire collar for forming a hole and fire stopping new or existing plasterboard walls. It eliminates the need for additional trades (dryliner / fire stopper) to enlarge / repair the penetration hole to the plasterboard due to poor drilling techniques, allowing penetrations to be fire stopped immediately after installation. The cable/s or pipe can be removed/replaced at a future date without affecting the integrity of the penetration.
Installation is quick and easy, thanks to a magnetic interface, with a single penetration taking less than 10 seconds. SpeedCutter offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods, reducing landfill waste by eliminating the need for multiple plastic cartridges. Additionally, all packaging is recyclable.
Whether you’re in contracting, passive fire protection, or trades such as drylining, electrical, plumbing, M&E engineering, or general refurbishments, SpeedCutter will save valuable time on site while ensuring safety and compliance in every job.
Richard Murphy, MD of Fire StopProducts Ltd said: “Current service penetrations can be inconsistent and prone to human error. SpeedCutter provides a quick, consistent, and cost-effective solution, ensuring fire safety and compliance are addressed and easily accessible across the industry.”
Marc Katz, the inventor of SpeedCutter explains the idea behind the product; “Around 10yrs ago when I was a site manager with the National House Builders, I noticed the repeat problems with the fire stopping around service penetrations. The M&E guys were either drilling the holes too big (more intumescent material required), too small (couldn’t apply the intumescent material without enlarging the hole), damaging the plasterboard because of blunt drill bits. After experiencing these problems on every site this is when the Speed Cutter was born.”
