The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers has announced with great sadness the death of Past Master Terence “Terry” Wright, who passed away on Thursday 22 April 2026.

Terry had been a dedicated member of The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers since 2009, having been introduced by PME Peter Cook and the late AE Alan Clark. Over the course of his distinguished Livery career, Terry played an active role contributing to both the Finance & Investment Committee and the Industry Committee.

His commitment extended further during his time as Deputy Master and Master, when he also served on the Nominations Panel and undertook the responsibilities of Charity Trustee during his year in office. Throughout his tenure, Terry was known for his steady leadership, thoughtful insight, and deep connection to the plastering profession, which formed a significant part of his working life.

During his year as Master, Terry, alongside his wife Christine, chose to support the British Gymnastics Foundation as the Company’s charity, reflecting their shared commitment to community and development.

Perhaps Terry’s most enduring legacy lies in his involvement with the Plaisterers’ Training Awards, a collaborative event with FIS. A passionate advocate for training and excellence within the industry, he served as Head of Judges for several years. In this role, he brought not only technical expertise but also warmth and encouragement, engaging personally with nominees and helping to shape the awards into the respected and successful event they are today. Many past recipients will remember his guidance and support with great fondness and equally, he will be remembered by all those who he worked with to make the Awards the successful, and highly regarded event it has become.

In recognition of his long-standing dedication and significant contribution, Terry was honoured at the Training Awards ceremony in November 2025, an acknowledgment that felt was both fitting and well deserved.

Outside of his professional and Company commitments, Terry was a keen gardener and golfer. He remained a constant and enthusiastic presence at Company events and on the Court, where his contributions were valued for their clarity, relevance, and often well-timed humour. His absence will be deeply felt by colleagues and friends alike.

The Company has extended its heartfelt sympathies to his wife Christine, his children Melanie and Alex, and his grandchildren during this difficult time.

Further details regarding condolences and arrangements are expected to follow.
