FIS member CarringtonLime is holding a two-day practical course specifically for tradespeople who are looking to work with lime.
Students will look at why lime is used in older properties, the different types of lime and their uses, sands and aggregates and learn how to create the perfect mix. This is a predominantly practical course with a high level of detail. On completion of Part 1 students can progress to the Part 2 course in which they will look at lath repairs, patch repairs, premixes and making insulating plaster.
The course will be run bewteen 10:00 – 16:00 on both days near the Forest of Dean in Gloucesteshire.
The course will cover the types of lime and its uses, aggregates and how they can affect a mix as well as practicals such as preparing a wall, base coat and top coat and dealing with shrinkage to name a few.
