EDSi is delighted to announce the appointment of David Oldfield as their new Managing Director from October. David has over 34 years of experience and knowledge not only from the Timber merchant and Door manufacturing sector, but also from his work in the industry with the British Woodworking Federation and other trade associations.
Starting his career as a wood machinist in the timber industry, at the age of 16 with Arnold Lavers, David has worked in a variety of areas in the business including operations, sales, purchasing and lately into senior management. After 34 years of working for one organisation he is now set for a new challenge with EDSi.
David will be working closely with Paul Bailey, who have many years of working together as Directors of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF). Both Paul and David have been very pivotal in the woodworking and joinery industry, with a long list of achievements. Both have held the position as President of the federation, with Paul also working as Treasurer for several years. David has been involved in developing the BWF’s Fire Door Alliance, serving as Chairman for over 10 years, working in collaboration with timber door manufacturers and its suppliers, championing third party certification.
Paul Bailey said: ” We are excited for David to join the business, his wealth of knowledge and industry expertise only adds to our own, and further supports the team so the business can continue to develop and grow. Given that David worked so long for his last employer, over 34 years, and our business is in its 34th year of trading we are pleased he chose to come to EDSi to continue his career. He will resume the day to day running of the business, alongside the rest of the Directors from November and we are all looking forward to working with him.”
David Oldfield said “Having been with my previous employer for so long, it was always going to take something special and unique to make that move away. I have known Paul and the business for over 20 years, and I am proud that they have asked me to join and continue to develop what is already a great business.”
