Ceiling design plays an important part in managing the acoustic comfort of an interior space and sometimes it’s necessary to think outside of the box. That’s exactly what ceiling systems manufacturer OWA is helping architects and designers do with its FreeStyle range of acoustic baffles, developed to bring greater creative flexibility to projects with exposed soffits or open‑plan layouts.

OWA’s FreeStyle collection includes both FreeStyle cells and FreeStyle baffles, offering specifiers a choice of free‑hanging acoustic elements that combine strong visual impact with high levels of sound absorption.

FreeStyle cells are available in four three‑dimensional designs, including Star, Circle, Asymmetrical and Square, each created by combining varied baffle lengths into sculptural forms. Manufactured from 40mm glass wool with a fleece‑covered finish, the cells deliver equivalent class A sound absorption and can be suspended individually or grouped to create larger floating arrangements. They can also be hung at different heights or surface‑mounted using OWA’s Z‑hook system, making them suitable for a range of sectors including education, commercial, healthcare and hospitality where acoustic control and a clear design identity are equally important.

OWA’s FreeStyle baffles provide even more versatility for bespoke ceiling layouts. Available in three standard heights and in white, grey or black fleece, with coloured fabric options on request, the baffles can be arranged vertically or horizontally to introduce interest, depth and variation across a ceiling. Installation is straightforward using OWA’s 24mm tee grid clip or wire-hanging kit, allowing the baffles to be positioned below exposed suspended ceilings or fixed directly to the soffit. This makes them ideal for open‑plan offices, classrooms, corridors, dining areas and communal spaces where high levels of sound absorption are essential.

For the utmost design flexibility, OWA also offers the FreeStyle flex baffle which is a bespoke ceiling acoustic sound absorber that can be made to measure. These bespoke suspended baffles support the design of individual ceiling layouts, with customised shapes and dimensions that can be arranged vertically or horizontally and with the choice of fleece or different coloured fabric.

All OWA’s FreeStyle cells and baffles are manufactured from 40mm glass wool, are fully recyclable and contain more than 70 per cent recycled content. By combining acoustic performance with aesthetic appeal, the FreeStyle range gives architects and designers the freedom to explore new ideas and create distinctive ceiling features without compromising on comfort or compliance.
